Limestone IntroductionLimestone is a sedimentary rock which is formed by the deposition of, or the binding with, calcium carbonates (CO3 - Ca) which is present in very small quantities in ocean water and occasionally in lakes. From a geological point of view, the most important deposits occurred during the Mesozoic (Triassic and Jurassic periods) and during the first part of the tertiary era.
